  • Unknown gunmen attacked

Unidentified gunmen attacked a military check post in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, killing a soldier. The officers provided this information. The assailants have not yet been identified.

The Pakistan Military Media Wing said in a statement that the terrorists targeted a post near the Afghanistan border in tribal North Waziristan. The security personnel immediately retaliated. However, the gunmen could not be identified.

The statement said that the search operation will continue till the attackers are caught. A similar terrorist attack took place on Friday in Kech district of Balochistan. In this incident 2 soldiers were martyred.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces have become the epicenter of terrorist attacks in recent years. These attacks have seen an increase after the Taliban took over Afghanistan on 15 August.

The Imran Khan government has banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan National Army. Both organizations have been accused of attacking in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Both these organizations are active in Afghanistan.

In October this year, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi also met the Taliban. In which the Taliban assured that it would not allow the terror of both the organizations to flourish on its soil. However, no formal statement came from the Taliban in this regard.
