5G will start from next year in many cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, here is the complete list

5G telecom service in India is going to start in 2022. However, according to the latest information, in the initial phase, 5G service will be started in Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Gandhinagar. India’s leading telecom companies Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have also set up 5G trial areas in all the cities mentioned above.

“All these metros and major cities will be the first places to roll out 5G service in the country next year,” the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) said on Monday, news agency Reuters reported. 5G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is the latest upgrade in mobile broadband networks. Many major countries of the world have been enjoying this service for a long time. 5G will be many times faster than 4G and it has the ability to download several GB of files in a few minutes.

The eight agencies, including Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bengaluru, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) and Center of Excellence These include Wireless Technologies (CEWIT), running a research program called the ‘Indigenous 5G Test Bed Project’. It was started in 2018 and is to be completed by December 31, 2021. This program is financed by the Department of Telecommunications and so far Rs 224 crore has been spent in this program.

Earlier this month, Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman had expressed hope that 5G trial beds would be started by early January. Rajaraman said at the India Mobile Congress on December 9 that “we hope to roll out this 5G test bed by early January, which will enable SMEs and other segments of industries to come to a working platform.”
