Digital Desk, Mumbai. NCB Mumbai’s Zonal Chief Officer Samir Wankhede, who made a lot of headlines in the Oryan Khan cruise drugs case, has been sent back to his home cadre. Let us tell you that last year Wankhede Bollywood star Salman Khan’s son Oryan Khan was arrested and sent to jail in a drug case. During this, he was in a lot of discussions.

Let us inform that in August 2020, he was given the responsibility as the Mumbai Regional Director of NCB. Sameer Wankhede’s tenure in NCB was till August 2021. He was given an extension of 4 months, which ended on December 31, after which he has been sent again to the Home Cadre Customs Department.

Let us tell you that after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, Sameer Wankhede started cracking down on the alleged Bollywood drug syndicate. Wankhede had also questioned Riya Chakraborty to other actors. In October last year, his team had allegedly recovered drugs and arrested Aryan Khan, among others, on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. However, at the same time, Wankhede had to face big charges including corruption, fraud in caste certificate against the senior officer.

Let us tell you that Sameer Wankhede has served as Deputy Commissioner of Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) and Additional SP of National Investigation Agency (NIA) before his stint with NCB. Wankhede has also served as Assistant Commissioner of Customs and at Mumbai Airport.

Let us tell you that while working with the Mumbai Air Intelligence Unit, he caught many celebrities who were evading customs. Significantly, in August 2020, he reached the NCB to investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput drugs case, taking the matter into his own hands, he had arrested more than 33 people. He was awarded the ‘Home Minister’s Medal’ in 2021 during his service.
