Prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC have been imposed in Gautam Budh Nagar district till January 31 in view of the increasing threat of Omicron, a new form of corona virus. Police said that strict action would be taken against those violating the rules. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ashutosh Dwivedi said that in view of the upcoming festivals, Section 144 has been imposed to control the spread of infection and to prevent disturbance of peace by anti-social elements.

He said that strict adherence to the Kovid protocol will be mandatory and no activity will be allowed in public places. He said that no public activity would be allowed from 11 pm to 5 am except for essential services and movement/activities of goods vehicles, ambulances etc. as well as employees associated with Kovid duty, police personnel and workers related to night industries. . Any kind of social, political, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious festival related activities and other gatherings will not take place without prior permission.
