Digital Desk, New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has got corona infected. His test report has come positive.

Mallikarjun Kharge’s office issued a statement in this regard saying that the report has come positive in RT-PCR and symptoms of Kovid-19 have been found in them. At present Kharge is in home isolation as per the guidelines of the doctor. He had also taken both the corona vaccines but so far he had not taken the precautionary booster dose, which required a gap of 9 months from the date of the second dose of vaccination.

Five staff members in his Delhi office also got corona a few days ago, including the secretary to the Leader of the Opposition. At present they are all fine and living in home isolation. Kharge has advised timely immunization especially to senior citizens regarding vaccination. He said he wanted to encourage them to take precautionary doses on a priority basis. Along with this, he has advised the government to give booster dose to maximum population.

Earlier, Congress’s Uttarakhand in-charge Devendra Yadav, Congress’s Karnataka in-charge and general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Rajya Sabha MP Deependra Hooda, Rajasthan in-charge Ajay Maken have become corona infected.

Significantly, so far 5,488 cases of Omicron variant of corona virus have been reported in the country, out of which 2,162 have been cured. It is worth noting that for the first time on 02 December, cases of Omicron variant were reported in Karnataka. So far, 1,367 cases of this variant have been reported in Maharashtra. 549 new cases have come in Delhi of this variant. According to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare till 8 am of January 13, 2022, during the last 24 hours, 2,47,417 new cases have been reported in the country, 380 people have lost their lives.
