Thiruvananthapuram: Cases of Omicron variant of corona are increasing rapidly in Kerala. On Sunday, Omicron reported the highest number of cases in a single day in the state. With 45 new cases of the Omicron variant of the corona virus being reported in the state, the number has gone up to 152. Earlier, on New Year’s Eve, Kerala had reported 44 new cases. Health Minister Veena George said that among the newly found infected people were four people who came in contact with Omicron positive, including three in Alappuzha district and one in Thrissur.
How many Omicron cases in which district
The district-wise fresh cases are as follows- Ernakulam (16), Thiruvananthapuram (9), Thrissur (6), Pathanamthitta (5), Alappuzha and Kozhikode (3-3), Malappuram (2) and Wayanad (1). Of the new cases, nine persons had come from high-risk countries, while 32 others had come from low-risk countries.
2,802 new cases of corona in Kerala
The Kerala government said in an official statement that 2,802 new cases of corona virus were reported in Kerala today and 12 deaths were recorded. Apart from this, 2,606 people were also cured. Kerala still has active cases at 19,180. At the same time, the death toll in the state has reached 48,113. The Kerala government said in an official statement that as per the new guidelines of the central government, 66 deaths have been added to the death toll.
