Assembly Elections 2022 Dates: The dates for the assembly elections of five states including Uttar Pradesh will be announced today. In the country where corona cases are increasing rapidly, it is challenging to hold elections in big states. Voting is to be held on maximum 403 seats in UP. Voting will be held in 40 assembly seats in Goa. Assembly elections will be held for 117 seats in Punjab. There are 70 assembly seats in Uttarakhand. Whereas in Manipur, people will exercise their franchise in 60 assembly seats. With the announcement of these dates, the election code of conduct will be implemented in all these states.

It is being told that assembly elections can be held in 7-8 phases in UP, the largest state in terms of population. Whereas in Punjab the process of voting will be completed in two to three phases. In the hill state of Uttarakhand, elections can be settled in two phases. In the smaller states of Goa and Manipur, elections can be held in one phase each.

The term of the current assembly in Uttar Pradesh will end in May, while in the other four states, the term of the assemblies ends on different dates in March.

At the same time, in view of the increasing cases of corona virus, political rallies, dharnas and demonstrations have been banned till 16 January in Uttarakhand. In the latest guidelines issued on Friday night, State Chief Secretary SS Sandhu said that all political rallies, dharnas, demonstrations and other public programs like cultural functions will remain suspended till January 16. These guidelines will be applicable from Sunday.

Electoral expenditure limit for candidates in Lok Sabha elections has been increased from Rs 70 lakh to Rs 95 lakh, while in assembly elections this limit will be Rs 40 lakh instead of Rs 28 lakh. The Election Commission gave this information on Thursday citing the notification of the Ministry of Law.

The decision of the government is based on the recommendation made by the election body. The revised spending limit for the Lok Sabha elections will now be Rs 95 lakh for large states and Rs 75 lakh for small states. Earlier this limit was Rs 70 lakh for big states and Rs 54 lakh for small states.

For assembly elections, the revised election expenditure limit for candidates has been increased from Rs 28 lakh for large states to Rs 40 lakh. In smaller states, candidates will now be able to spend a maximum of Rs 28 lakh instead of Rs 20 lakh.
