Defeat BJP to get rid of inflation – Congress
Congress spokesperson Surjewala said that on the first day of the year 2022, the Modi government has given us the gift of the new year in the form of new inflation. This new inflation and with it a high unemployment rate of about 10 percent in the whole year of 2021. Should we thank Modi ji for this? The Congress spokesperson said that due to the increase in tax, from January 1, it has become expensive to travel by footwear, taxi, auto rickshaw, use of travel related apps, ordering food through food ordering app and withdrawing money from ATM machines.
“Inflation at peak in Modi government”
Congress leaders in 12 cities across the country referred to the increase in GST as ‘Modi tax’ and urged people to defeat the BJP. Surjewala said that the prices of tea, pulses, edible oil, cooking gas and even salt have increased since Prime Minister Modi came to power in 2014. The Congress leader appealed to the public to defeat BJP in the upcoming elections and said that remember, if Modi is there, inflation will remain, Modi government means high prices. Modi and inflation are harmful for the country.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the government is raising taxes even before the budget is presented and may later claim that it has presented a ‘tax-free budget’. Surjewala credited the Congress for deferring the GST Council’s decision to increase the GST on textiles from 5 per cent to 12 per cent and claimed that the taxes would be increased after the assembly elections in five states. He said that one should not forget that the proposal to increase the GST on textiles has not been withdrawn, only deferred. Increasing the GST on clothing to 12 percent will hurt businesses and employment opportunities in power loom and handloom units.
