Chief Granthi Of Patna Sahib Gurdwara Found Injured Under Mysterious Circumstances At His Home

The ‘Granthis’ act as the custodians of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism.


Bhai Rajendra Singh, the main ‘Granthi’ of Takht Shri Harmandir Sahib Ji, was found injured under mysterious circumstances at his residence here. A police officer gave this information. On Thursday, Singh’s wife found that he had bruises on his neck and was bleeding profusely, Gauri Shankar, in-charge of Chowk police station, said. The station in-charge said that his family members immediately took him to the nearest hospital and from there he was taken to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH). The police have not started any investigation so far as no complaint has been given by his family in this regard.

The police officer told PTI-Bhasha, “Chowk police station has received information about the incident. We were told that Bhai Rajendra Singh has been hit on the neck with a sharp weapon, but the police cannot initiate a formal investigation without receiving a complaint from his family members.”

Despite repeated attempts by PTI-Bhasha, neither his family members nor office-bearers of Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib ji were available for comment on the incident. This Gurudwara is also called Takht Sri Patna Sahib. The ‘Granthis’ act as the custodians of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. Patna is the birthplace of Shri Harmandir Sahib Ji, the 10th and last Guru of the Sikhs, Gobind Singh. Maharaja Ranjit Singh had built a Gurudwara at that place. Guru Gobind Singh was born on 22 December 1666 in Patna.
