Eat food without oil
Makar Sankranti is also known as Khichdi. Donation of urad dal and rice is done on this day, as well as donating sesame, bird, gold, woolen clothes, blankets etc. is also important. After the donation, one should take food without oil and give food to other people as much as possible. According to the scriptures, a son-in-law should not fast on Sankranti, on Krishna Ekadashi and on lunar and solar eclipses.
