The deadly pollution of this state will be controlled by 1500 electric buses! 130 will be double-decker

New Delhi: The Delhi government is soon going to include 1,500 electric buses in the camp of the state transport department. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that the state government is aiming to make the entire traffic of DTC electric. Central government agency Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) has also floated a tender worth Rs 5,500 crore in which it has come to the fore to run 5,580 electric buses, which will include 130 double-decker buses.

Rs 5,500 crore tender floated

Giving information on Twitter, Gehlot wrote, – As per the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, we are engaged in the work of making buses 100 percent electric. Under The Grand Challenge, 1,500 electric buses will soon be included in DTC. Convergence CESL has announced the RFP. Delhi will be the first state to run electric buses at this level. CESL intends to run 5,480 single-deck electric buses and 130 double-decker buses in 5 metro cities.

First batch may be inducted in DTC by July 2022

It has also been received in Gehlot’s statement that the first batch of electric buses can be included in DTC by July 2022. CESL wants to help the state governments meet the set targets for electric traffic and expects to create a sound infrastructure for these vehicles across the country. On Monday itself, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has flagged off DTC’s first electric bus in Delhi and said that 300 electric buses will be included in DTC service by April 2022.

State government to buy 2,000 electric buses

Kejriwal also told that the state government will buy 2,000 electric buses in the coming few years. Introducing the electric bus, he said that this is a milestone for the transport department of the city. This is a very important step to bring pollution under control in Delhi. These vehicles do not make any sound and do not drink petrol and diesel a drop. This e-bus takes one to one and a half hours to fully charge and on a single charge, it can run up to 120 km.
