Maruti Suzuki’s most awaited SUV spotted on the streets of Mumbai, will it be launched in India soon?

New Delhi. India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has started production of Jimny SUV in the country. Along with this, its export has started in the international markets. Two left-handed drive Suzuki Jimny has been recently spotted on the roads of Mumbai. It is worth noting that the company has not yet launched it in the Indian market.

According to the report of CarToq, two Jimny were seen in the country’s financial capital Mumbai. However, it was not clear what this upcoming SUP was doing in Mumbai. Because Suzuki is making them in Gurugram, Haryana.

Company doing feedback analysis
The Indo-Japanese carmaker had recently indicated to launch the most awaited Jimny SUV. However, contrary to previous reports, it is expected that a five-door variant will be launched in India instead of the three-door variant of the Jimny. It is also believed that the top executives of the company are trying to ascertain its position for the Indian market. For this, they are analyzing customer feedback.

Will get more space than the 3-door version
Earlier, Jimny had tested the long wheelbase variant. The 5-door version of the SUV is expected to have a slightly longer wheelbase than the international model (3-door), with more rear seat occupants and dedicated boot space. Apart from this, the SUV will also offer a higher ground clearance of 210mm. Apart from a few cosmetic changes, the 5-door could get a slightly more premium cabin due to the difference in price.

Maruti Suzuki could use 5-litre, four-cylinder
However, it is quite possible that Maruti Suzuki may use a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine for the Jimny. A similar engine is also seen in Vitara Brezza, Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 cars. This engine produces 102 HP and 138 Nm of torque.
