Hyundai is bringing this affordable SUV to compete with Tata Punch, know when it will be launched and features

New Delhi. Hyundai is also bringing its SUV to compete with Tata’s upcoming subcompact SUV Punch. Hyundai is all set to roll out the entry-level micro SUV Ai3 (codenamed) next year in 2023. Hyundai India has approved it for launch in the country. The AI3 is believed to be the local variant of the Casper micro SUV that was launched in South Korea.

The Hyundai Ai3 is expected to use the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, which can also be seen on the Grand i10 Nios. This engine is capable of producing 83 PS of maximum power along with a peak torque of 114Nm. The car is likely to see a five-speed AMT (automatic manual transmission) and a five-speed manual gearbox.

The Ai3 could also come with a three-cylinder 1-litre engine, which will be turbocharged. This variant will deliver a maximum power of 100PS and a peak torque of 172Nm. Unlike the four-cylinder version, it will only come with a five-speed manual gearbox.

Will get many advanced features
Hyundai’s Casper is a feature-loaded micro-SUV with many advanced functions. It is also equipped with an electric sunroof, automatic climate control and a multi-function steering wheel. Prioritizing safety and comfort, the car also gets an advanced driver aid system with 7 airbags. On the other hand, talking about its other features, it can get features like touch screen 8-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, engine start/stop push button, different driving modes and heating ventilation for the front seats.

This SUV will give competition
Hyundai’s Ai3 can give a tough competition to many cars in this segment apart from the Tata Punch. This includes Renault Kiger, Mahindra KUV100 and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Tata launched its micro-SUV Punch on October 18 last year. Its base variant costs Rs 5.4 lakh. It gets a 1.2-litre engine, generates 113 Nm of torque and 86 PS of power.
